Aug 30, 2010 15:08 Finishing Touches
Finished up the Snow Speeder over the past few days. Since the last post I have:
- Touched up the pilots, given them a coat of flat clear and then gloss coated the helmets.
- Given the Speeder an overall wash of black oils.
- Tried my hand at dot-filtering. This worked ok. I applied white and grey and blended it in small sections (generally a panel). I am overall very happy with the effect.
- A very light drybrushing of white to bring out some detail.
- Glued the canopy glass in place.
- Drybushed silver on several parts to bring out detail.
Overall I am happy with the results. As usual better shots will be posted in the Gallery once I get time to setup the "studio".

Aug 13, 2010 09:08 Assembly, Painting and Cockpit
Painted the Cockpit, Pilots and started to break up the monotone grey. Really want to lighten it up so will be concentrating on that. I am going to try filters for the first time (very thin applications of oil paint) in whites and light grey.
The painted Pilots don't look much better than unpainted. They really are the worst pilot figures in the history of scale models....

Apr 13, 2010 14:04 Sub-assemblies & Paint
This won't be an extensive build log.
I decided to build and paint this in sub assemblies. I have the main hull, sets of laser assemblies/engine parts, rear radiator (really, what sort of power source do they have in there.....) and canopy. They have all been patched up, sanded and painted. The rear engine assemblies has gaps where they met the top of the hull so I filled that with some strips of plastic.
Next up will be some panel shading and the rest of the detail painting.
I have also primed the figures grey. These are possibly the worst pilot figures in any model, in any scale.. in the history of models.
