Wow.... Two posts in one week for the same project!!!!

I have painted the face and arms of another figure. I am not overly happy with the mouth areas of either figures but I can work on that. I think I need to get out my handy dandy new magnifier headset.

I also started blocking in the various color for uniform/harness/pouches/etc...

Aug 30, 2010 15:08 Figure Painting and Base

I have painted the face/flesh on the first figure. It's like riding a bike. It had been about 2 or 3 years since I painted a face on 1/35th figures. I am to impatient to use oils for face painting. I use a combination of Model Master and Humbrol enamels.

You can also see the Concrete barrier started to get painted up. I also added brass rod "lift" rings. Don't know how "prototypical" this is but oh well....

Last picture is of the overall layout. I added a layer of plaster to better simulate the blacktop on the road. Will need to add may layers of weathering on top of the black to get it to look proper.

Applied the Celuclay ground work. I really worked it around to keep it as thin as possible. Next up will be to apply some sand/dirt/grit and then paint it...

You can see the concrete barrier that will be the object that the LAV is going to move.

The figures have each had their flesh base coated.

A quick update on the progress. Not a lot. I cut and shaped a piece of foam to give the impression of road with ditch on either side. I will cover this with Celuclay and work from there.

I am building a concrete barrier out of sheet plastic for the LAV to be hoisting. I may try to make a mold of it so that I can make multiple copies of it.

Dec 29, 2009 18:28 Clearcoat, Decals and Detail Painting

Ok, I found out today I missed the deadline for the model contest on HLI. Oh well. To many days out due to my Crohns...

The clear coat is on and the Decals were applied. I painted the jerrycans OD and the vision blocks black. I also put togeather two figures from Dragon's US Tank Crew set. Nice set. I repositioned a few arms and added Mic's.

All the detail bits have been completed.

The Rear doors were detailed with the vision block. The mounting brackets for the winch spades were modified as the ones with the kit were very simplified.
