Jul 17, 2012 18:17 Weathering

A few weeks ago I finally sat down and did some work on these guys.

The first thing I did was to dust them off as it has been a while. I then mixed up a small batch of celuclay and applied some mud to the lower parts of each vehicle. Next I applied an oil wash all over the vehicles and figures. Once that was dry i gave the mud/dirt a dark brown wash

I didn't get a chance to do much more until today. I started with dry rushing the figures face and uniforms. I also dry rushed the Wespe.

Still lots to do but they are looking good.

May 02, 2012 16:30 A wsh and dry (brushing that is)

Concentrated on the 222 today.

After the wash dried I started the process of dry brushing. I used a medium grey and am pretty happy how it turned out. Also dry brushed stowage and MG34.

Gave each vehicle a clear flat coat.

The weathering process was started with a misting of tamiya earth.

Next up is an oil wash.

The crew figures have had basic colors laid in and flesh painted. I'll do a quick shade and nightlight on them once thing dry.

With the Black Hog Down dio on its final stretch and the work bench cleaned up I got around to painting these four kits.

The Panzer IIIL will be an eastern front vehicle in a Dark Yellow with Brown camo scheme.

The Wespe will be Green over Dark Grey.

The 222 will be overall Dark Grey

The 232 8Rad will be Afrika Korps vehicle with a very weathered Desert Yellow with the Dark Grey showing though. I will be trying Salt Chipping for the first time.

Mar 02, 2012 15:54 Ready for paint.

Finished up construction on the PnzIII. After adding damage to the left fender in built the rest pretty much stock.

I left the turret hatches open so I can at some point add three crewmen.

Next up was evaluating the stare of the three other kits. The Wespe was pretty much done. Just had to add the tools and attach the superstructure to the hull. I also sanded some seams. on of the tracks has split so I'll need to repair it with thread or some other method.

The 222 neede a few fixes as it has been damaged in storage. After these were done I drilled out the barrel and added stowage.

The 232 was the worst off. I had to attach several wheels and fix the frame antena. After that it was just adding the stowage.

I've got a bunch more stowage for each vehicle that I will add but it will be painted seaperatly.

All four vehicles got a good soak in warm soapy water an a scrub with a soft paint brush to remove any dust. They now sit drying for a few days.
