Gallery - M12 GMC UPDATED

This is Acadamey's M-12 GMC. I built it SOB with only some additional stowage from the bits box. I added a few figures for fun.

It has a full interior and that was a pain to get it to all fit well and look right. The tracks are a tad tight, but thats what you get with rubber band tracks.

See the entry in the Projects section for build details.

Gallery - Klingon D-7 (4 Comments)

This is Polar Lights D-7 Battle Cruiser. I built it strait out of the box with only a modification to the stand. Ive found that with most sci-fi kits the stands they provide are pretty hinky and so I beef them up.

Gallery - WWIII What If?

This diorama is a "what if" scenario. Here is the back story:

WWIII started when rogue factions of the USSR refused to admit the end of the empire in 1991... and launched a Coup and attack on NATO. Conflicts between China and Taiwan, India and Pakistan, Iran and Iraq... all flared up...

Alliances quickly formed... USSR, Pakistan, Iran, North Korea and China signed treaties, Australia, Japan MORE...

BLOG - Change of pace (1 Comments)

I've started working again on the Black Hog Down dio. I've put the GATO aside for a while and will start another quicky project to fill the time between paint drying on the Dio.

Once I get the two done I'll tackle the Gato again. It's going to be ton of air brushing, drybrushing, filters and washes. And it's a very large canvas.

BLOG - New Photo Booth (2 Comments)

My wonderful wife gave me a Portable Photo Studio for my birthday. It has reflectors, two lights, diffusers and four backdrops (white, grey, green, blue). It will be difficult to resist re-doing all my older photos.

It will be best for small dios and single models. I'll need to use natural outdoor light for larger models and Dios.

Gallery - Cyclone VR-52F/T Battler

This is a kit from one of my favorite Anime from the 80's, ROBOTECH. Robotech was an amalgamation of three Anime into one long story. The Cyclone is from the last chapter, the original source being Genesis Climber MOSPEDA.

It was a nice kit thou the poses available are pretty boxy. I airbrushed the kit for the most part, brush painting most of the black. The tires are soft vinyl.

BLOG - Possible next build. (3 Comments) UPDATED

With the Gato build into the painting/weathering stage I'm thinking of building the Stuka. Either this one or the Panther I posted previously. I have built a British, American and Japanese aircraft but not a German one yet.

I could also work on my "Black Hog Down" dio that's been sitting idle for a year...

or maybe one of my Starblazer kits....

To many choices.... MORE...

Project - Gato Class Submarine - Painting (1 Comments) UPDATED

Been madly airbrushing the past few days.

I've done all the major painting now, just some touch ups to do where I had some bleed through the masks.

The Hull
I first painted the front section Light Gray. Once this was dry I masked it off and painted the middle of the deck side Light Ghost Grey (or there abouts). While I let that dry for a day I painted the front and back of the Hull MORE...

Project - Gato Class Submarine - Weld seams and painting. (1 Comments)

I've spent the last week doing the weld seams on the deck of the Gato. It was a long slow process. They are a tad more prominent than the seams on the hull but they will do.

Ive also started painting the conning tower and guns. MORE...

Gallery - A6M2 Model 22 Zero UPDATED

This is Fujimi's Zero. Its an older kit but it's simple and a quick build. The Zero is (in my opinion) the best looking of the early WWII naval fighters. I didn't do anything special on this build.

I airbushed the light grey on the underside, INJ green for the upper surfaces. Masked the Fuselage and spayed the Cowling. All other details are hand painted. I gave it an overall wash of raw MORE...

BLOG - Facebook UPDATED

I used to have an automatic feed from here to facebook. Its why I wrote the RSS feed (little orange button above in the Title Image). Well, turns out Facebook nixed the automatic import.

So now I have to share each entry manually. Kinda sucks.

What is any geek to do... add the facebook share button to his sight... So today I added it and its on the individual Blog/Project/Gallery pag MORE...

BLOG - Broadening my toolbox (3 Comments)

As I get older and learn more about this hobby I realize that how little I really know (isn't that true with life?).

When I first started building models I used the little square bottles of testors paints and gel glue. As I moved from models in the 25mm fantasy figures (to compliment my D&D days) I switched to Polly S paints. Not sure when that brand disappeared but I finally tossed out the MORE...

BLOG - What to do? UPDATED

I picked up this kit a few years ago. It's part of a collection that my local hobbystore purchased. As an added bonus it contained two complete kits. I'll finish one as a stock F9F-5P Recon Panther. The other I may convert back to a standard Panther. MORE...

Project - Gato Class Submarine - Construction finished (4 Comments)

All the major construction is finished. Took alot of elbow grease to sand all the joints. The hardest seam was the bow plates.

I picked up some 010 thou square stock today to repace a few seams. Also picked up the paint. Three bottles of black and one each of light grey and medium grey. Going to need to mix up a light ghost grey. MORE...

Project - P-47D Thunderbolt - Done (1 Comments)

This was an enjoyable relaxed build.

I fixed the decals somewhat an will live with the rest.

Did a light weathering. A wash in select areas as well as light drybrushing of some raised derails.

Added soot/oil steaks around the cowling, gear and gun ports.

Gave it a shot of tamiya flat.

He's a pic of it among it's peers. MORE...

Project - Gato Class Submarine - Deck and Coning Tower (5 Comments)

I attached the forward bafles and the three deck pieces.

Had to do a bit of sanding on each of the baffles and will have to do the same on the deck joints. The seam where the bow deck meets the bow hull has a gap of about 2mm and will need some filler.

I sprayed the upper hull flat black so that any areas that are open through the deck are already pre coated. Looks good so far.

I also MORE...

Project - P-47D Thunderbolt - Decals finally sealed (2 Comments)

It took a while, and many repeated treatments with decal set solutions but I am finaly "OK" with the decals. I had to repeated pierce some of them with a knife point and apply the decal set. A few are not totally snuged down and some of them are yellowed... Such is life.

Here is a much better shot with the "real" camera rather than an iPod picture. MORE...

Project - P-47D Thunderbolt - Decals and pilot. (6 Comments)

Yesterday I sprayed the clearcoat on the thunderbolt.

Today I did the decals. They are older and not in the vest shape. A little yellowing. I managed to get them all on. I have a few air bubbles around som raised details that will need to be worked out.

Also started painting the figure.

I realizes I missed the sway brackets on the bomb racks so added those. MORE...
